Letter to Demi "What's a Lovatic" by Liiz Ortiz.

Lovatic. What does it mean to be a lovatic?

I ask myself this same question. It all starts with one person, one soul.
Demetria Devonne Lovato Hart, born in New Mexico and raised in Dallas, Tx. At a young age she was already fighting the odds, her parents separated at early age, she started playing the piano at age 7 as well as acting. She’s the girl with the heavenly smile, that no matter how bad your day in a matter of seconds when you look at that smile it all goes away. God’s grace is upon her.
 

Her early life wasn’t easy, being bullied and hated for no reason which made her develop an eating disorder, but that didn’t stop her. She fought for the right to dream, the right to do what she loves. Insecure on the inside but still giving a daily battle. Believing in herself showing millions of teenagers the mirror lies, it doesn’t show you what’s inside. The light, how everyone’s perfect in unusual ways. Helping Caitlin feel beautiful, Showed Karin how to accept herself, and see the beauty she is. It made Steph eat again, fight an eating disorder. It showed Rebecca not to be afraid and get off her wheel chair. It’s the reason why Ximena and I are still alive. It’s gonna be okay beautiful ladies. Demetria is our hope.

As Demi continued into Disney or into the ‘La la land’ she promised to stay the same, and nothing has changed. That goofy smile still remains. On the inside she’s the same humble girl who sang rain go away’ on Barney, where she made her start her Dallas, Texas. Don’t forget her Dallas, Texas.  How don’t forget helped Rabich get over that break up, and stand back on her feet and go SOLO from an abusive relationship. No Demi we don’t forget.

Here we go again, helping Steph not give up and fight for him.
But let’s go back around, and how it helped Gio fight against those bullies, and be standing strong.  Stop the world reminds Gorkem of a very special person he will never forget.
Her songs became a daily life experience. The fact that a girl’s lyrics and music helps people through everyday is unusual.

Demi had a break down in ‘10 in which she had to check into a treatment center, it was horrible. Rumors say ‘there were times she would look in the mirror and all the medicine they gave her she would say she was a doll.’ BUT she did it for her and her lovatic’s. She give us an example that no matter how bad we mess up it’s not too late.’ Face problems, be strong and do the right thing.

Saying sorry, for letting so many people down. Little did she know US, and her family would never let go of her. We held her tight. We protected her, we prayed. The girl who taught us how to love our selves and believe. When she lost her way and forget who she was, with the same love and dedication she did to us we gave it back. We showed her how to believe in herself again. Stood by her side. Through rumors, through her leaving shows, leaving tv. We didn’t care we it didn’t matter, we stood by her side through fire and rain. You’re never alone Demi you’re that gift, gift of a friend. Let go of the past shadows, and grow stronger with us because it’s a brand new day.
After treatment I still remember it like it was yesterday. She was seen out in LA With shades in her hair and waiving and smiling. Lovatics when crazy! We had a real party. We gave her space to get better, but letting her know we were waiting with open arms to receive our hero.
 

Demi grew more fans as she shared her battle with the world. New lovatics would join the family, the world of chances is waiting for you. Skyscraper. Ring any bells? Demi’s single, we waited two years.
 

It’s already helped people like Sara, Debby, Allie, Samantha, Caroline Cassey Dana and Natalia. Saving lives already, fighting life with a smile no matter how hard times are.
The song had so much promotion from so many lovatics especially Abdullah and Ron. We have your back.
 

So you see were a family. Different color, different countries, different ages, different sexes, different opinions but one hope. One inspiration. One reason to wake up everyday and keep fighting. Keep fighting that depression, keep fighting that eating disorder, keep fighting bullying, keep fighting the memories of molestion, keep fighting with a Demetria Devonne smile on our face. Why? Because we have her and her music. Her memories, her love and example that we can overcome any dark point in our lives. Even when the world gives up on us, we can rise, rise up high. She’s the biggest sky scraper, biggest inspiration, biggest giver.
 

So yeah there’s other fan bases sure their idols have pretty hair, sing really nice, and are attractive but being a lovatic is so much more then just a pretty face. Its a life saved, it’s dedication within’ an unconditional love time will not erase. Because we don’t like her cause of her pretty, face, vocals or body. We love her because she saved our life, gave us hope to fight back, helped us love ourselves, eat again.. face this hard cold world by ourside, inspiring us, reminding us we are not alone. And you know what? That love no matter how many years pass won’t go away. Because pretty faces grow wrinkles, hair eventually falls out but a memory and heart lives forever. So for those who ask, who we are? We are, Demi’s Lovatics.
 

So Demetria you may have not won Grammy’s (yet) have the most popular song on the radio but you’ve saved lives, you inspire millions of people, small, old, healthy, sick. So many people that form one for you that have called radio stations like crazy, voted more then 1,000 times online but mostly that love you. No not just fan love, family love. Real and unconditional.
 

Never forget, no matter what comes your way in life we the lovatics love you and support you. Look at your wrists, this is it Demi, this is what you’ve always fought for, this is the dream. STAY STRONG, because
baby well, you’re just getting started…
